When is Black Friday 2017

Black Friday will be upon us again here in the UK at the end of November as the tradition of shopping till you drop fails to be forgotten.

What is Black Friday?

If you don’t know by now, Black Friday is traditional considered as the beginning of the Christmas shopping period, well in the US anyway. For us Brits its a relatively new concept, not so long ago we were all getting excited about New Years and Boxing day sales but now were getting our hands on bargains mid November.

Its not all hype. UK consumers, last year spent more than £1 billion on bargains between Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Cyber Monday is the online equivalent of Black Friday and is observed worldwide since the explosion of online shopping.

So when is Black Friday 2017?

This year Black Friday falls on November 24th with Cyber Monday the following Monday.

These two monumental days in the shopping calendar provide extra special deals and bargains for shoppers just before the Christmas period.

Although the tradition has migrated in force to the UK, not all retailers here actually take part, in 2016 Ikea, Asda, Next, and Homebase abstained from the day of bargain bonanza.

Other retailers opted to just have ‘Christmas sales’ that weekend and not say that they were actually partaking in Black Friday such as M&S and Selfridges.

Are the Black Friday deals any good?

Black Friday doesn’t have to be an all night affair, waiting around in queues, last year more consumers shopped online in the middle of the night than ever before so maybe its worth at least a late night if your after something in particular.

Last year Amazon took part in the notorious Black ‘FiveDay’ sale as they began their discounts days before the main event in an attempt to nab the impatience in us all.

Throughout their extend sale period Amazon launched further discounts on heavily demanded products for short bursts of time called ‘lightning deals’.

Last year the Amazon Echo was reduced for the first time ever around Black Friday from £199.99 to £149.99 and the Lenovo Ideapad was discounted from £420 to £299.

Amazon also featured massive discounts on Xbox and PlayStation games consoles and electrical items including the Phillips Sonicare Healthy White + electric toothbrush but we’re not sure what kind of message you would be sending with that kind of Christmas present.

It would be a good idea to scour the site pre-sale period as to know what you want and watch out for the deals. Make sure you check back as we will be having our own Black Friday 2017 deals review soon.

One of the main products consumers pick up on Black Friday is TVs and when it comes to TV Argos usually comes up with amazing deals for their customers.

In 2016 Argo slashed prices on the 43-inch LG 43LH570V Full HD Smart LED TV which was priced at £295 on the day.

Argos also provided customers with price deals on smartphones like £50 off the LG G4 and discounts on tablets and consumers nabbed the iPad Air 2 for £209.

Currys are making early promises to their customers that they can expect even better deals than last year when they were selling Samsung TVs, Coffee Machines and Dyson vacuums at bargain prices.

In 2016 the Currys Black Friday sale began when the offers went live at 12am so you may want to plan to stay up late come Black Friday eve.
